The Reliability Engineer will provide technical and engineering support for the chemicals operations. They will be responsible for continuous improvement of maintenance systems and procedures within the plant. This includes interacting closely with operations, suppliers, contractors, and others within the maintenance department to improve equipment reliability and uptime, through hands-on implementation and facilitation of RCM, while reducing maintenance costs.

Provide day-to-day reliability engineering services in support of plant equipment breakdowns, diagnosing failure modes and prescribing repair procedures. Implement a root cause analysis program including formal failure incident investigations when appropriate as well as routine low order analysis such as cause/effect, 5-Whys and major plant issue resolution (FMEA, etc).

Provide support to ensure compliance with the Mechanical Integrity Program, Tank Inspection Program and other safety, health, environmental, and quality requirements. Provide ongoing support and continuous improvement to the maintenance management system database by entering/updating equipment data and by developing/entering/updating preventive maintenance procedures for plant equipment.

  • Maintain system for assignment of asset criticality codes and hierarchy based on RCM (reliability centered maintenance) methodology.
  • Provide ongoing technical support for the Predictive Maintenance program; including and future enhancements to the vibration, infrared thermography, and lubrication management efforts.
  • Manage plant spare parts systems including current and new equipment and facilities. Provide maintenance project management leadership including development of maintenance related cost improvement efforts; also provide maintenance technical support on plant capital projects.
  • Provide mechanical engineering support to plant operations
  • Provide technical support for shop repair of major plant equipment and field inspection of new equipment fabrication.
  • Directly supervise and provide direction to maintenance contractors to appropriately supplement onsite resources and support the maintenance activities.
  • Provide additional supervisory support to meet plant outage supervision requirements.
  • Provide technical support to maintenance planning and scheduling functions.
  • Lead efforts to continuously improve safety awareness for the maintenance department and outside contractors.
  • Continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOP's) for maintenance, including procedures for equipment documentation.
  • Potentially serve as a supplemental or back up maintenance supervisor.
  • Support all plant safety programs, initiatives, policies and procedures.
  • Communicate and coordinate initiatives with diverse teams/departments within the plant.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance and or reliability in manufacturing, or process industries required.
  • Proficient with the RCM methodology, industry best practices, RCA/RCFA, FMEA, MRO, preventive maintenance, corrective actions, predictive technologies, planning scheduling, and outage planning
  • Possesses strong interpersonal relationship skills, problem solving/troubleshooting skills, and written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Understanding of safety and environmental regulations.
