Location: Jackson, TN
Salary: 120k-130k

The incumbent will assist the Operational Excellence group in defining and implementing strategic initiatives to ensure continued improvement in operational efficiency, cost reduction and quality for our products that are used in Pulp and Paper mills.

More specifically the responsibilities of the Manager Operational Excellence Provide technical expertise, leadership and mentoring to drive improvements in equipments performance in all areas; safety, environment, cost, efficiency, quality, etc. Deliver significant and quantifiable process improvement and financial benefit across the organization on assigned projects.

  • Work within the organization at all levels, creating value and buy-in as a key change facilitator helping to drive the company's transformation initiatives.
  • Plan and assist in the execution of various Lean Six Sigma transformation events and projects targeted towards improving the business's performance.
  • Carry out several technical projects and plant audits aimed at reducing costs, improving efficiency and quality.
  • Provide recommendations and assist plant employees in achieving improvements.
  • Lead company wide efforts to identify best practices and be a liaison to drive implementation of best practices across the company.
  • Support corporate efforts to improve the plants alignment and performance, working with the plant, suppliers and corporate.
  • Assist plant in trouble shooting issues and follow through to completion of issue, insuring no reoccurrence.
  • Develop and implement Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
  • Lead transfer of knowledge Networks for the company and encourage knowledge transfer across all plants.
  • Participate in the Company’s investment projects to provide technical expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in a technical discipline with a huge preference for engineering
  • At least 7 years’ experience in a technical area or management preferably in the pulp and paper industry or other relevant sector. Must have union experience. Must be a proven leader.
  • Independence and the ability to coordinate several projects at the same time while organizing his/ her own schedule.
  • Excellent report-writing skills.
  • Knowledge of methods for continuous improvement or strong motivation to learn about and use them.
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to influence others.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and on a variety of sites.
  • Rigorous analytical approach.
  • Perseverance and a focus on results
